Third mission and public engagement involve in their definition all the opportunities given to the society that are organised by UniPD.

MAPS includes students, professors and staff in its initiatives, in addition to non-specialists (people who keep in touch with the department).

ORUS, the Association of Veterinarians for Large Animals, came about thanks to the department; the IZSVe (Italian health authority and research organisation for animal health and food safety) and freelance veterinarians specialised in large animals (meat and milk sector). ORUS promotes cultural, technical-scientific and educational events for specialists in large animals.

MAPS also participates in a number of university activities, such as Kids university and Venetonight (a day dedicated to research).
