First PhD student of Veterinary Science Course awarded Erasmus+ scholarship for project at Stellenbosch University, South Africa

Eugenio Gaudio, PhD student of the Doctoral Course in Veterinary Science of the University of Padova is ready to start an exciting scientific experience in South Africa!

Eugenio will spend a six-month period (October 2017 - March 2018) at Stellenbosch University for his research project supervised by Prof. Giulia Maria De Benedictis & Prof. Louw Hoffman. Eugenio will conduct his activity on animal welfare, assessing the stress response in wild animals after capture, in order to better understand the stress pathophysiology and how to prevent it. He will be the first PhD student from the University of Padova to have been awarded an Erasmus+ / KA107 Scholarship under the Inter-institutional Agreement that was signed in 2016 between the University of Padova and Stellenbosch University, and coordinated by Prof. Antonella Dalle Zotte of the Department of Animal Medicine, Production and Health (University of Padova).

Eugenio Gaudio, dottorando di ricerca presso la Scuola di Dottorato in Scienze Veterinarie (Università degli Studi di Padova) è in partenza per il Sudafrica!

Eugenio, vincitore di una borsa Erasmus+ Oltre l’Europa (KA107) della durata di 6 mesi (ottobre 2017- marzo 2018), svolgerà attività di ricerca (supervisori Professoressa Giulia Maria De Benedictis & Professor Louw Hoffman) presso la Stellenbosch University a Stellenbosch, occupandosi di benessere animale. In particolare, lo scopo della ricerca sarà quello di valutare lo stress da cattura nella fauna selvatica autoctona al fine di approfondire le conoscenze sulla patofisiologia dello stress animale e come prevenirlo. Eugenio è il primo dottorando di ricerca dell’Ateneo Patavino ad usufruire del Programma Erasmus+ / KA107, il cui accordo Inter-istituzionale è stato firmato nel 2016 tra l’Università degli studi di Padova e la Stellenbosch University (Sudafrica), e coordinato dalla Professoressa Antonella Dalle Zotte del Dipartimento di Medicina Animale, Produzioni e Salute.
